MB Associates is proud to be sponsoring a special live country music event in aid of The Children's Society at Thames Side Brewery & Tap Room in Staines, Surrey on Saturday 26 September.

Surrey Country Roots of Hope Jam is a free event that will bring together quality live music, community spirit and fundraising to support the charity’s vital work helping young people across the UK. Visitors will be invited to make voluntary donations throughout the day, with opportunities to donate in advance and at the event.

Festival-type feeling

The event will carry a mini-festival type feeling and is being organised by Lauren Falconer, a keen supporter of The Children’s Society.  The day’s entertainment will feature a range of live performances. Including sets from the house band, a young up-and-coming band called The Rookies, and the well-loved Country Roots Jam that is a regular feature at the venue.

For 140 years, The Children's Society has supported children and young people when they need help most. Today, the charity works to create a society where every child can thrive by listening to and empowering young people, while campaigning for positive change. Through its ongoing research, the charity has identified that young people are struggling with issues such as school pressure, online bullying, peer pressure and body image concerns – with the latter more common in girls. The charity aims to provide support early, to prevent issues from escalating.

Wellbeing support for children

Lauren is a keen fundraiser outside of work and is also part of The Children’s Society’s Business Development team. She says: ‘We focus on giving children access to wellbeing support that isn’t clinical and doesn’t have fixed appointment times or a waiting list. This means that support can be provided before things reach crisis point.’

The charity has a flagship service, Time for Young People, a network of welcoming drop-in spaces where young people can seek support when they need it. Designed with young people, these environments feel warm and inviting rather than clinical. Youngsters have helped style everything from the colours and furnishings to the overall look and feel of the space, ensuring it is accessible and comfortable. They can speak with a trained practitioner about how they are feeling and access support in a safe, informal setting.

Raising much-needed funds

Commenting on the country music event, Lauren adds: ‘We're delighted to have MB Associates supporting this event. It's going to be a fantastic day of live music in a wonderful venue, while raising much-needed funds for vulnerable children and young people. We're encouraging people to get behind the event, whether that's by attending on the day or making a donation beforehand if they can't be there in person.’
